I Cor. 16:9 “For a wide door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.”

March 29, 2008

Gone to Be With the Lord Pastor Prabhakar of the Nellore Dist. of the BELC died of a heart attack. He leaves his wife Padmamma 42, and three children: Sujatha 21, John Prasad 20, Gessika 15. He had had some medical problems in the past. While he was not among the original group in 1998 that greeted us, by 2003 he was among the ‘new’ pastors going through the instruction. At Nernoor where there is a population of 10,000 people and one other church he had preached for over 15 years. Having just celebrated the resurrection let us pray for the wife and children that they are comforted to know that Prabhakar will rise again as promised in the Word. “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.” Jn. 11:25-26 One Week after Easter This BASIC comes to you one week after the glorious Easter celebration. We are reminded that when Jesus appeared the second time to his assembled apostles, the ‘doubter’ Thomas was present. One week had elapsed since the Lord came into the room through closed doors to strengthen the 10 apostles. During the week in between the Spirit certainly worked on Thomas’ heart. He who had said “Unless I see…I will not believe,” has given us that statement of faith that reminds us that it is a personal thing. “My Lord and my God.” Jn. 20:28 The Lord was preparing Thomas to go far afield to serve Him even to India. To go, to serve, to be faithful needs that faith relationship that means, it is the Lord and me. When Thomas says ‘my’, it is the indication of this. May each of us and our brothers and sisters continue to be built up upon the cornerstone of Jesus Christ. May the Lord use each of us as His instruments to tell the glorious good news of a Savior slain for our sins but risen to prove He is mine for time and eternity. Pastoral Training – The CLC desires to help you our sister churches in your training of pastors. Below you have a summary of our efforts with you. CLCI – 12 graduates in June ’08. There are 25 men on a wating list to enter the CLCI Institute. We support the men’s training through sponsorships from the CLC USA members who obligate themselves to give a certain amount each month for a man’s support. This is also done in the NCLC, BELC and LCEA. NCLC – 3 graduates in Jan. ’08 from the NCLC Bible Institute. LCEA – postponed 8 graduates graduation to ’08, 13 in seminary. There were two men who were to come to St Peter’s Seminary from the ECLC and there were inquiries also from the CLCEA. BELC – TEE 203 pastors continue monthly study meetings in fellowship. Beyond this we estimate that up to 104 could be ready for fellowship in ’08-’09, and 66 in ’09-’10. In addition to these men in regular monthly studies the BELC started a two year training of men in Martin Luther Bible School. There 15 men in this school which will graduate them in Feb. ’09. They hope to then start a new group for two years. ECLC – two day seminar held, hopefully to be yearly and monthly studies for leaders to begin in Jan. ’08 CLCK – seminar held in Maranga, with monthly studies to begin, God-willing, in Jan. ’08 at two centers: Nairobi, Maranga ELCC – plans laid to begin TEE after Nov. ’09 The two ways that men are trained is through the seminary approach or through the theological education through extension which means having monthly studies in districts or different locations in the church. Pray for the success of he Word as it is taught these men. We are all in fellowship and should be remembering these efforts in our prayers.
